James Good began pursuing his DJ ambitions in 1998 and has since fulfilled a lifelong dream of playing at iconic venues in the UK and Ibiza.
If you’re a fan of house music—especially across London and the South Coast—there’s a strong chance you’ve come across James Good.
His journey began in Ibiza in the late ’90s, when he was invited to play at the Manumission workers’ bar after just one year of mixing. It was a defining moment that accelerated his career, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Since launching Houseworx in 2005, a weekly residency in Winchester, James has become a respected and dedicated figure on the South Coast house music scene, both as a DJ and promoter. The brand quickly gained recognition and went on to headline events at some of the region’s top nightclubs.
In the early 2000s, James regularly performed at some of the South’s most well-known venues, including The Old Fire Station, Spitbank Fort, The White House, Drift, Mud Club, Club EQ, Tantrum, Bamboo Bar, The Lizard Lounge, Bar Bluu, Molokos, and The Venue, alongside a series of popular boat parties.
In 2005, after finishing as runner-up in a national DJ Mag competition, James was invited to play at Turnmills. His technical ability behind the decks was quickly recognised, leading to bookings with Pukka Up and further appearances with The Gallery.
Over the following years, he became a regular presence in London, performing at venues such as The White House, Heaven, Aquarium, Club Supreme, and WildChild, while also holding a residency with Full Soul Records.
From 2007 James collaborated with leading brands to host events across the South Coast. This led to a residency at Foggy’s, which became a base until 2010. During this time, he also achieved major milestones, playing main room sets for global brands including Pacha, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, DJ Mag, Manumission, and We Love.
By summer 2009, James had returned to Ibiza, performing at Bar M, Itaca, and Pukka Up. These appearances opened the door to further international bookings and repeat performances at Hed Kandi events on the island.
In 2011, a new chapter began as Houseworx came to a close after 15 successful years, allowing James to focus fully on his music. He became a resident DJ for The Time Tunnel, an event known for showcasing influential names including Graeme Park, Jeremy Healy, Danny Rampling, Brandon Block, Alex P, Shades of Rhythm, and Slipmatt, alongside live performances from Ratpack, Alison Limerick, Rozalla, and Angie Brown.
In the years that followed, James continued to perform at major events and venues, including We Are FSTVL, Clockstock (Clockwork Orange), Warehouse LDN, Ministry of Sound, and Pacha. He also spent increasing time in Ibiza, playing at Akasha, Las Dalias, Monkey, La Farandula, WOW, and Plastik as a resident for PureSea Presents.
Back in Southampton, James remains active on the local scene, performing regularly at events across the South Coast. Beyond the club circuit, he also tours the UK as a DJ for major sporting events through his mountain bike apparel brand, Winch & Plummet.
In 2024, James launched a weekly radio show on DNUK which gained traction and led to sponsorship from thedjshop.co.uk. This year included another trip to Ibiza with Pure Sea, alongside a series of events across the South Coast.
2026 is already shaping up to be another strong year, with a full calendar of bookings secured throughout the summer and into autumn.
Behind the decks, James thrives on the energy of the crowd, delivering a distinctive and dynamic blend of house music. Influenced by disco, house, breaks, hip-hop, and garage, his sets are both adventurous and engaging. Driven by a genuine passion for the genre, James continues to push boundaries, explore new sounds and technologies, and stay true to the original spirit of house music—while building his reputation as one of the most compelling DJs on the scene today.
